Why It Matters

The Right Extraction at the Right Time Saves a Lot of Trouble

Most tooth extractions are preventive. A wisdom tooth that's coming in sideways. A baby tooth that's holding on too long. A back molar that's beyond saving. Planning wisdom teeth removal in Hesperia, CA on a set schedule is much easier than dealing with the emergency version later.

Dr. Nivin has performed thousands of extractions over her career. We do simple extractions, surgical extractions, and full wisdom teeth removal in-house, no need to be referred to an oral surgeon for most cases. This means continuity of care: the dentist who knows your medical history is the one doing the procedure.

We pair every extraction with appropriate pain management, local anesthesia at minimum, with nitrous oxide or general anesthesia by a board-certified anesthesiologist available for patients who want a deeper level of comfort. Wisdom teeth removal in particular is usually done with sedation, and most patients report being pleasantly surprised at how easy it was.

What to Expect

Your Extraction Journey

Extractions sound scary, but with proper planning and sedation, most patients are surprised how easy the experience really is.

Step 1. Consultation & X-ray

We examine the tooth, take a digital X-ray, and discuss what to expect. You'll know exactly what's involved and what it'll cost before scheduling.

Step 2. Day-Of Prep

We review your medical history, confirm any sedation plans, and answer last-minute questions. You're never rushed into the chair.

Step 3. The Procedure

Local anesthesia goes in first. With sedation, you're relaxed throughout. Dr. Nivin works carefully, most patients are surprised by how little they feel.

Step 4. Recovery Instructions

Before you leave, we go over what to expect for the next few days, how to manage any discomfort, and what to watch for. You get our direct line if anything feels off.

Step 5. Follow-Up

We check in by phone the next day. Routine follow-up visits aren't always needed for simple cases, but we're always available if you have concerns.

Common Questions

Extraction Questions, Answered

How much does an extraction cost?

+
Simple extractions typically range from $150–$400 per tooth. Surgical extractions and wisdom teeth removal can range from $300–$800 per tooth depending on complexity. We provide written estimates before any procedure and accept most major insurance plus CareCredit and in-house financing.

Does it hurt?

+
With proper anesthesia, no. You'll feel pressure and movement during the procedure but not pain. Mild soreness for 2 to 5 days afterward is normal and easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication and the prescription we may provide.

Do I need wisdom teeth removed if they don't hurt?

+
Not always, but many wisdom teeth cause problems eventually even if they don't right now. Common reasons to remove them proactively: they're impacted (stuck), partially erupted (cavity-prone), crowding other teeth, or hard to clean. We'll show you your X-rays and give you an honest recommendation.

How long is recovery?

+
Simple extractions: 2 to 3 days of mild soreness. Surgical extractions: 4 to 5 days. Wisdom teeth (especially all four at once): 5 to 7 days with swelling peaking around day 3. Plan to take it easy, no heavy exercise, no straws, soft foods only.

Will you remove all my wisdom teeth in one visit?

+
In most cases, yes. Removing all four wisdom teeth in one session under general anesthesia is the most efficient approach, one recovery period, one set of post-op instructions. Some cases benefit from staging into two visits and we'll tell you honestly which approach fits.

What about dry socket?

+
Dry socket happens when the blood clot that forms after extraction gets dislodged. It's painful but treatable. We give you detailed instructions to prevent it (don't smoke, don't use straws, gentle rinsing only for the first 24 hours). If it happens despite precautions, call us, we treat it quickly and the pain resolves fast.
